Andas well as revisiting a couple of last year’sprojects, we thought we’d dig deep into theworld of Minecraft Pi and show you how tomanipulate it using scripts – especially nowthat this hack-focused edition of the gamecomes pre-installed on all new versions ofenRaspbian. It was originally createdto provide a cleaner method of controlling the camerathan running the raspistill and raspivid command-lineapplications from within scripts. Since featuring on theRaspberry Pi homepage, the library has seen severalthousand downloads and (naturally) a few bug reports –though as of release 1.2, these should all be fixed! The library has already played a role in a number offascinating projects, including time-lapse videos, motion-sensing security cameras, stop-motion animation, andeven a handheld digital camera with Dropbox integrationcontrolled by a touch screen. In this article we’ll walkthrough installing and using the Raspberry Pi’s cameramodule via picamera, including the fundamentals of twoof the aforementioned projects: time-lapse videos and amotion-sensing security camera. This article assumes you are using the RaspbianLinux distribution on your Pi, and that you are runningthe X Window environment(startx after logging in),although picamera workshappily on any Pi-relatedLinux distro (Arch, Pidora, etc) and doesn’t requirea graphical environment, even for the camera’spreview. It is also assumedyou have successfully setup your camera moduleand tested it with one ofthe raspistill or raspividapplications.“Time-lapsevideos, motion-sensingcameras,stop-motionanimation, evena handhelddigital camera”BelowIf you need ahand setting up yourcamera module, check out the guide inissue 2 ofRasPi [ Pobierz całość w formacie PDF ]
